On March 3, 2006, Boyd Gaming announced that an expansion of the South Coast would be undergoing. The towers, each containing 660 rooms, were fully finished in mid-2005. However, some of the resort's interior were still in the works, and the other half of the hotel tower were still incomplete. A 4,330-seat arena was also planned for the resort as well, which was also approved my the commission.īoyd Gaming opened the 1,320-room South Coast on December 25, 2005, containing 80,000 square feet of casino space. On December 18, 2003, the County Commission gave zoning approval for a new 2,139-room Southern California-themed resort and casino named 'South Coast'.
